My Tuesday

I was trying to organize my binders and gathering the loose notes and putting them into their respective binders.
I was defeated. I cannot believe the number of journal articles I have printed, the notes I have taken during class, and the notes I have made for myself from reading chapters.
What was amazing is that I know my stuff. I really do! Ha!
Boy, I do have some knowledge in me!

-----------------
I went and visited some former colleagues at the newspaper last night. As always, it was good catching up with them, listening to stories about their families and work, and sharing cooking tips.  I saw the 'grandpapa' of the newspaper, my fast-food tempter, the hippy girlfriend, the cool and laid back photographer, the grouchy but always nice Bob, and the icky supervisor. :)
It was good actually. And for a little while, I do miss working there with the people I like, and editing and laying out pages. :)
Maybe there will always be a copy-editor in me?

Experiments

Here again, another short break from school and challenges to undertake in the kitchen...
I am learning all about bread making -- no ... not the bread machine kind, but one from scratch.
And it is fun.
My Kitchenaid mixer certainly helps do the heavy lifting --- kneading. When it is almost done, I will get my hands in there and give it some tender loving knead as well.
Ahhh.. bread made with love.

So far, I have baked 2 loaves of regular white bread, and now, I have 2 French baguettes in the oven baking. :)
I am excited. 10 minutes more to some yummy toasty bread! Will post some pictures later.

I also made some pre-Thanksgiving dinner yesterday for Keith and a friend.
I like my pre-Thanksgiving dinner at home in Ruston before the REAL DEAL in Arkansas.
It is small; we don't get bombarded with an army of food.
Anyway, I roasted a hen yesterday, put some fresh green beans on the skillet, and some cornbread dressing made with chicken broth.
It wasn't bad :P

Tomorrow, I am gonna bake "The Heidi Chocolate Pound Cake" and take it with me to Arkansas to share it with the family.
And perhaps more homemade loaves from the kitchen in Ruston!

Have a great Thanksgiving!

It's been a while

Wow...
Been a month since I last updated.
Life has been awesome.  I finished a brief stint at an elementary school giving those kids speech/language therapy.
It was truly a great experience, working with the kids and learning from them.  The internship added more knowledge to my chic bag !
I do have a love-and-not-so-love relationship with the children.
There are definitely those children who brighten up my day and there are those who just make you scratch your head and wonder what else you can do to fix it.
Nonetheless, I really enjoyed myself thoroughly and have learned a lot from my supervisor.

Now, I am ready for my next stint at a medical site. I guess I will be seeing patients with laryngeal cancer and with nodules and polyps.
I am excited about the things and cases I will see. But I am dreading the drive back and forth. :)
But I am perky. I am optimistic.
Graduate school..... I am almost done with you sucker!
