10月14日 How was your weekend ??Mine was rather good.
I went lingerie shopping -- and it wasnt for me.
It was for a friend's lingerie shower.
My goal was to get a sweet, sexy gown but not scandalous, or untasteful.
It was a slippery slope trying to figure out THE one for her.
But anyways, I got what I think was classy and sexy for her, and I got something for myself too!
I guess, that would be my early birthday treat! :)
10月6日 Update ...It has been a long time since I last wrote.
Summer was here and now gone.
Fall is here but it still feels hot and humid in Louisiana.
I wonder when we will get some reprieve from the heat and the yucky moisture in the air.
I have been spending time at an elementary school, working on my clock hours needed to graduate.
Makes me wonder a whole lot about things.
Apart from the funnies and the stunts that these little kids pull off on a daily basis, more pressing issues are constantly bombarding my head.
Is speech therapy at school really effective?
What can I do to help those really unintelligible kids? How can I maximize my time there?
How can I bring about maximum improvements in speech and in language?
This isn't a class project any more. It is real-life, with real kids, and their academic and social future at stake.
It isn't a class project where I come up with treatment plans and goals and pretend it all worked.
After a full day at the elementary school, after my evening classes, I am home -- not exactly relaxing. My mind is constantly thinking about what other examples I can do to stimulate a /r/ phoneme from the kids, what I can do to coach the kids to make a simple phoneme /fi/, or what I can do to simulate a scenario and the kid would have to role play via making requests, making statements etc. My mind runs through a list of words I can use at minimal pairs for the other kids.
And maybe, one day, they will be able to say their /r/ and /l/ correctly????
It has been an eye-opening 3 weeks, a fulfilling 3 weeks, and a racking my brains 3 weeks...
